Collaborative fuel management in the agricultural-wildland interface will help reduce wildfire threat for operations in these areas, particularly for those bordering Crown land.
This report documents the extent of high wildfire threat/agricultural interface in two regions: Cariboo and Bulkley-Nechako & Fraser Fort-George. It also includes feasibility criteria and approaches for economical fuel management in three proposed pilot areas.
Two key transferable processes are outlined in the report:
- A methodology for quantifying the extent of wildfire threat to agriculture within a region
- A framework for best management practices for fuel management in the agricultural-wildland interface
